Call for Presentations is Now OPEN!

The Incident Management Teams Association (IMTA) is seeking experienced and passionate presenters for the IMTA 2027 Symposium.

Each year, the IMTA Symposium brings together professionals from Incident Management Teams, emergency management, public safety, and supporting sectors to advance knowledge, share lessons learned, and strengthen the incident management profession.

We invite you to share your experience, insights, and practical tools with attendees by submitting a speaker proposal.


What We’re Looking For

  • All-Hazards Position Specific Courses and Instructors during the Symposium Training Academy (February 5-8, 2027)

  • General Sessions focusing on leadership, mental wellness, or other related topics.

  • Breakout Sessions related to 2027 theme: "Many Lines: One Mission - Interagency Cooperation


Our Training & Education Committee and Symposium Planning Committee will review all proposals to create a well-rounded, high-value program. Presentations should:

  • Offer practical resources, toolkits, and real-world takeaways for the IMT community
  • Provide lessons learned, implementation tools, or clear “how-to’s”
  • Be interactive, relevant, and designed for adult learners
  • Include clear learning outcomes or objectives that attendees will gain
  • Reflect the diverse roles, levels, and sectors within the incident management community (local, state, federal, private sector, healthcare, non-profits, critical infrastructure, education, and more)


Session Formats & Tracks

  • All-Hazards Position Specific Courses and Instructors during the Symposium Training Academy (February 5-8, 2027): up to 4-day courses

  • General & Breakout Sessions: 1 hour in length


Session Tracks include:

  • Current Events

  • Leadership & Organization

  • Lessons Learned

  • Planning

  • Operations

  • Specialty

  • Technology

We are especially interested in General Sessions focused on leadership, mental health, and related topics that inspire and inform the Incident Management Teams community.


Submission Deadline & Timeline

  • Proposals must be submitted online by August 12, 2026

  • Session selections will be finalized in September 2026

  • The full Symposium schedule will be announced in September 2026

  • All speakers will be notified of acceptance or non-selection by September 30, 2026


Speaker Benefits & Expectations

  • IMTA does not provide speaker honorariums or travel reimbursements unless pre-arranged.

  • If selected, speakers will receive a complimentary registration code for the day they are speaking or a 50% discount off the regular conference registration.

  • Proposals promoting specific products or services will not be considered. If you are interested in presenting your service or product, you can do so as a sponsor at the Sponsor Showcase. Contact Morgan Burke for more information, morgan@ahimta.org.

  • Any speaker substitutions must be approved in writing. 

  • Sessions may be cancelled if the original speaker or topic becomes unavailable.


Tips for a Strong Proposal

  • Be clear and thorough in describing your session’s goals, key takeaways, and format
  • Focus on practical knowledge and resources that attendees can immediately use
  • Share real-world examples, including successes and challenges
  • Engage your audience with discussion and interaction
  • Know your audience: IMTA attendees are experienced professionals seeking relevant, real-world strategies for all-hazards incident management
