2023 Mid-Year Academy

In a joint partnership between the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (EMD), South Carolina State Fire, the Palmetto Incident Support Team (IST), the All-Hazards Incident Management Teams Association (AHIMTA), and FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute (EMI), we announce an opportunity for Incident Management Team (IMT) members to participate in the 2023 AHIMTA Mid-Year Academy.

Position Specific Courses

L0956 – Liaison Officer (3 days | Mon-Wed)
**this class will be live-streamed to approved satellite locations TBA

L0960 – Division/Group Supervisor (3 days | Mon-Wed) 

L0975 – Finance/Admin Unit Leader (3 days | Mon-Wed) 

L0962 – Planning Section Chief (4 days | Mon-Thurs) 

L0958 – Operations Section Chief (4 days | Mon-Thurs) 

L0950 – Incident Commander (5 days| Mon-Fri)

Prerequisites

The required prerequisites to these courses are:

  • IS-0100: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS)
  • IS-0200: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
  • E/L/G 0300: Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents
  • *E/L/G 0400 Advanced Incident Command System for Complex Incidents, ICS 400
  • IS-0700: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
  • IS-0800: National Response Framework (NRF), An Introduction

* Not required for students in L0960 or L0975

Other recommended (not required) courses:

  • E/L/G 0191 Emergency Operations Center/Incident Command System Interface
  • O 305 Type 3 AHIMT Training Course (US Fire Academy)
  • O 337 Command & General Staff Functions for Local Incident Management Team (US Fire Academy)


Registration Process

All registrations are pending until pre-reqs are submitted and approved. There are no charges for the position specific courses; lodging and meals are additional costs.

Step 1: Select the the class to attend, indicate if lodging is needed, and submit payment. Once payment is confirmed a coupon code will be included in the confirmation email.
Deadline to register online is September 15, 2023.

Step 2: Enter coupon code on NETC's admissions site; include documentation.
Deadline to complete NETC admissions is September 29, 2023

A review panel confirms submitted applications & supporting documents, then formal acceptance will be sent by October 13.

Lodging:

S.C. State Fire campus, single-occupancy lodging is offered in the dormitory, first come, first served at a rate of $55/night. Bedding and towels are provided. (select the nights you need on the registration form)

Meals:

$85 for the week. All students attending this event will be responsible for paying for their daily breakfast/lunch in the campus cafeteria. Dinner is on your own.

Airport: Closest airport is Columbia International Airport (CAE).

Transportation: Palmetto IST is willing to provide airport pick up/drop off for attendees staying on the State Fire campus and to shuttle back/forth from the partner hotel, so they can avoid renting a car.
